Ukraine continues to harmonise national legislation with the standards of the EU legal system
The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko met with Hallvard Gorseth, the Head of the Department for Combating Discrimination of the Directorate-General for Democracy and Human Dignity of the Council of Europe. Nelli Yakovlieva, the Deputy Head of the Committee on Human Rights, De-occupation and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations, also took part in the event.
“Ukraine continues to harmonise its national legislation with the standards of the European Union's legal system. I am glad to welcome Hallvard Gorseth to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine again!” said the First Vice-Speaker.
Oleksandr Korniienko informed the European delegation about the immediate plans of the Ukrainian Parliament in the field of adaptation of legislation to the standards of the European Union. The parties also discussed important personnel decisions in the Government that will facilitate Ukraine's integration into the European Union.
“We are grateful to the experts of the Council of Europe Office for their opinions on the draft laws on the status of national communities (minorities), as well as on anti-discrimination legislation in general. The opinion of our partners and their support on the path of Ukraine's European integration is very important to us!” said Oleksandr Korniienko.
Having discussed the areas of future cooperation, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked the guests of the Parliament for their consistent cooperation and open dialogue, which is very important for the implementation of plans and agreements.
