Denys Shmyhal and Ingrida Šimonytė visit Okhmatdyt, damaged by a russian missile

On 24 August, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė visited the largest children's hospital in Ukraine, Okhmatdyt, in Kyiv. On 8 July, russia attacked the hospital with an X-101 missile.

The Heads of Government of Ukraine and Lithuania inspected the destroyed toxicology building and damaged buildings. They talked to the doctors who were working at the site during the missile strike and helped to save the children. The officials thanked the doctors for their heroism.

"We have already begun to rebuild Okhmatdyt. To ensure a transparent process, the Ministry of Health has set up the Council for the Restoration of Okhmatdyt, which includes a representative of Lithuania. After all, Lithuania was among the first to respond to the tragedy. At the personal initiative of Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, the Lithuanian Government allocated EUR 1 million for the hospital's reconstruction. Thank you for this incredible support!" said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, during the war, russia destroyed more than 200 Ukrainian medical institutions and damaged more than 1,600 more. He emphasised that Ukraine would work together to rebuild everything that russia had destroyed.
