The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with a delegation of the U.S. House of Representatives led by Rob Wittman, the Vice Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, and with the participation of David Trone

As the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted, this is the fourth high-level US delegation that he has the honour to visit the Ukrainian Parliament over the past two weeks.

First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the United States of America for all the assistance provided — defence, financial, humanitarian and political.  He also emphasised the importance of bipartisan and bicameral support from the US Congress.

The parties also discussed the security situation. "It is critically important for us to lift all restrictions on the use of our partners' weapons and to be able to defend ourselves, in particular by striking at russian military targets," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

"To protect people and infrastructure, Ukraine needs enhanced military support. Our needs include additional air defence systems, artillery, and combat aircraft," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.

At the same time, the parties raised a number of other important issues, including training for the Ukrainian military, increasing sanctions pressure on russia, and implementing reforms in Ukraine.
