The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a working meeting with the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Bridget Brink
The parties discussed a number of important issues, including US defence assistance, Ukraine's membership in NATO, strengthening of sanctions against russia, support for the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine noted that the development of systematic and thorough cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the US Congress is a key to strengthening our strategic partnership.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that he appreciates the leadership of the United States in providing defence assistance to Ukraine and in consolidating international efforts to support Ukraine in the Ramstein format. "Thanks to the resumption of supplies of American weapons, we have managed to stabilise the situation at the frontline," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
He also emphasised that Ukraine's membership in the Alliance is a goal with no alternative. "The future of Ukraine is in NATO. De facto, Ukraine's army is already a NATO army — Ukraine is fighting with NATO weapons, fighting according to NATO standards," said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
"Ukraine appreciates the actions aimed at further weakening russia's military-industrial base and reducing its support from third countries by imposing sanctions," Ruslan Stefanchuk concluded, adding that it is important to continue this work.
