Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker.
The Head of Government thanked the United States for supporting the decision of the G7 countries to provide Ukraine with USD 50 billion from future proceeds of frozen assets of the russian federation. The parties discussed the implementation of this initiative.
"It is critical for us that the funds are available to Ukraine as early as 2025 and that we have an opportunity to allocate them to all critical needs, including the military," said Denys Shmyhal.
The parties also addressed the work of the Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform. According to the Prime Minister, the financing of budget expenditures, recovery projects and support for the energy sector remain Ukraine's priorities.
Denys Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine appreciates the USD 7.85 billion of direct budget support to be provided by the United States this year. The first USD 3.9 billion is expected in the coming weeks.
"We are introducing a systematic approach to financing economic recovery projects. We have already held the first meeting of the Strategic Investment Council under the Government of Ukraine, and within two months we plan to approve the list of public investment projects for 2025 and submit it to our partners," the Prime Minister said.
The Head of Government also thanked the United States for announcing the provision of USD 500 million in new funds for energy assistance and redirecting the previously announced USD 324 million for emergency needs in Ukraine’s energy sector.
"Support for the energy domain is essential for us today to restore what the enemy has destroyed.
We appreciate that the United States unwaveringly stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in our struggle for freedom," said Denys Shmyhal.
