The First Vice Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko held a number of working meetings during his visit to Luxembourg
While in Luxembourg to participate in the first EU-Ukraine Intergovernmental Conference, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko had a separate meeting with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Claude Wiesler, as well as a joint meeting with him and members of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Cooperation, Foreign Trade and the Greater Region.
Oleksandr Korniienko informed about the security situation in Ukraine, in particular, on the battlefield, the consequences of the aggressor's energy terror, missile attacks on civilians and infrastructure. In this regard, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the speed of decision-making is extremely important for Ukraine, especially with regard to air defence systems, as it means saved lives of Ukrainians.
The parties discussed Ukraine's European integration track. "The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted all the necessary laws that were prerequisites for the start of accession negotiations. And today is the next historic step towards our country's membership in the European Union," said Oleksandr Korniienko, assuring of his readiness to continue working intensively and effectively on the next integration tasks.
In the energy sector, the First Vice-Speaker emphasised two aspects that would help Ukraine. First, it is an increase in the capacity for importing and exporting electricity. Second, the involvement and support of partners in the construction of distributed generation.
In addition, they discussed the Global Peace Summit. "We appreciate the active participation of Luxembourg and it is important that the country supported the joint communiqué," said Oleksandr Korniienko.
In conclusion, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that Ukraine and its people are grateful for the support in the implementation of European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, as well as for the comprehensive assistance provided by Luxembourg and, in particular, the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg, in Ukraine's fight against the russian aggressor.
