Issue Number One Is Air Defense: President at the Meeting with U.S. Congressmen

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a bipartisan delegation of the United States Congress that is on a visit to Ukraine.

The Head of State thanked the congressmen for the visit and noted that they had arrived in Kyiv after an extremely powerful and critically important decision for us.

"Thank you again for this. The people of Ukraine were counting on this decision. We are glad that the United States remains with Ukraine, that you remain our main powerful ally," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President told the congressmen that he had spoken on the phone with U.S. President Joseph Biden before their meeting. The heads of state discussed, in particular, the possibility of speeding up the provision of a military assistance package to Ukraine.

"The number one issue is air defense. We are in absolute need of air defense. Once the decision is passed, we urgently need concrete assistance with this. We also need very specific weapons to help the military and protect civilians. Of course, we are talking about the need for weapons with a longer range. Artillery shells are also very important," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail macro-financial and military assistance, including the need for artillery shells, long-range missiles, electronic warfare and UAVs, combat aircraft, and support for the development of the Ukrainian defense industry.

They also focused on the confiscation of frozen Russian assets, support for Ukraine on its path to NATO, security commitments, the Ukrainian Peace Formula, and U.S. participation in the inaugural Peace Summit.

For their part, the congressmen assured that they would continue to stand with the people of Ukraine in this fight against Russian aggression for the ideals of peace, goodness, and democracy.
