We have seen progress in unblocking U.S. aid

Progress in unblocking U.S. aid is one of the key results of the working visit to the United States. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

Denys Shmyhal mentioned three key topics discussed during this important visit to the United States: the unblocking of military and financial assistance from the United States; American investment in the Ukrainian economy; and the use of frozen russian assets.

“We have finally seen progress in unblocking U.S. aid. The bill provides for USD 61 billion to support Ukraine,” the Prime Minister said.

According to him, most of this money is earmarked for military needs. USD 7.8 billion is budget support. Another USD 1.5 billion is economic assistance. Congress also plans to consider a bill to confiscate frozen russian assets for Ukraine’s needs.

“I have had one-on-one meetings with Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress. I met with House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Roger Wicker and the Senate Ukraine Caucus,” said Denys Shmyhal. “We received assurances that both parties will support the bills. We expect that this large package of assistance from the United States will be voted on in the near future.”
