Maksym Subkh took part in the ceremony of official launching of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Mozambique

 

 

Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh paid a working visit to Maputo in the framework of his tour of Africa to participate in the official opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Mozambique.

The event was attended by representatives of the government, business, public of Mozambique, Ukrainian diaspora, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Maputo and journalists.

"The Republic of Mozambique is an important partner of Ukraine on the African continent. That is why Ukraine's decision to open an Embassy in Maputo is a proof of our country's determination to intensify bilateral cooperation. Ukraine is eager to open a new page in its relations with Mozambique, based on our common aspirations for peace, security and prosperity," said Maksym Subkh.

In his speech at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Justice for Constitutional and Religious Affairs of Mozambique Filimau Soares emphasized that the opening of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission is an important milestone in the development of Mozambican-Ukrainian relations, which will give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

During a separate meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique Veronica Macamo, Maksym Subkh informed his interlocutor in detail about the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, Russia's massive missile attacks on Ukraine's energy and industrial infrastructure, as well as the efforts of the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces of Ukraine aimed at protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. The parties paid special attention to the preparations for the inaugural Global Peace Summit in Switzerland. An oral invitation to participate in this international event was conveyed to the Mozambican side.

During the meeting, the Special Representative emphasized that Ukraine is and will remain a reliable guarantor of food security for the African continent, despite the ongoing Russian military aggression.

Veronica Macamo was also handed a letter from the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, which, among other things, contains an invitation to the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Mozambique to pay an official visit to Ukraine.

Also during the visit, Maksym Subkh gave a series of interviews to leading Mozambican media.

For reference: On May 26, 2023, Ukrainian Foreign Minister paid his first visit to Mozambique since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993.
