Denys Shmyhal had conversation with David Cameron

On 26 March 2023, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal had talks with Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Cameron.

The parties discussed the escalation of russia's attacks on civilian infrastructure and the assistance Ukraine needs.

An important topic of discussion was the introduction of mechanisms to make russia pay for its crimes and destruction. In particular, the confiscation of frozen russian assets. The interlocutors addressed an issue of establishing a special international group with the participation of Ukraine to develop the legal ways necessary for confiscation.

"Ukraine has already submitted its proposals. The International Register of Losses has been created. Next, we propose to establish an International Compensation Commission and a compensation fund. Our position is unequivocal: all frozen assets of russia should be used for the needs of our country," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister also thanked the UK for the significant amount of assistance provided and for signing a security agreement with Ukraine. According to him, this gives confidence in the long-term support of the British allies.
