The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the Acting Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Csaba Hende

This is the first meeting between the Speakers of the Parliaments of Ukraine and Hungary in 14 years.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, expressed his belief that the parliaments of both countries can and should play a leading role in the Ukrainian-Hungarian dialogue.

“Ukraine is interested in developing friendly and good-neighbourly relations with Hungary,” he said, stressing that Ukraine's support is the best way to help end the war and restore security in the region and on the European continent as a whole.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked Hungary for sheltering Ukrainians and providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that Hungary's involvement in the practical implementation of the President Zelenskyi's Peace Formula would help consolidate relevant international efforts and end the war. He also called on the Parliament to support the initiative.

“It is important that Hungary supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. And this was said by my colleague during our meeting. As well as the fact that Csaba Hende is open to further cooperation,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said in conclusion. Ruslan Stefanchuk said that he sincerely believes that the parliamentary track of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Hungary has been restored.
