Ukraine highly commends U.S. assistance and responsibly treats every dollar spent
Тhe key priority in Ukraine's cooperation with its partners is the transparency of the use of funds raised. This was emphasised by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting with a delegation of Inspectors General from U.S. Department of Defence, State Department and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on 30 January in Kyiv.
"The United States is one of the major donors to Ukraine. We highly appreciate this assistance, and therefore we treat every dollar spent with responsibility," the Head of the Ukrainian Government said.
Denys Shmyhal emphasised close cooperation with USAID and the World Bank to ensure monitoring of the targeted use of funds provided by the U.S. Government. According to him, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine together with international audit companies is also monitoring the use of direct budget support from the U.S. Government.
"Accountability and transparency in the use of the funds raised is our key priority in cooperation with our partners," the Prime Minister stressed.
Denys Shmyhal noted that during the meeting the parties had also focused on the implementation of reforms in Ukraine.
"An anti-corruption infrastructure has been established and is successfully operating. We are introducing digitalisation. We have returned electronic declaration and submitted a draft law on lobbying to the Parliament. We have introduced a graded system of remuneration for civil servants and reduced almost 20,000 vacancies in the civil service," the Head of Government noted and added that the implementation of the entire range of reforms would help strengthen the state in all areas: from the justice sector to the business climate.
Denys Shmyhal thanked the Government and the people of the United States for their unwavering support of Ukraine during the war.
