Prime Minister of Ukraine held online conversation with U.S. Treasury Secretary

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal held an online conversation with U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on 23 January 2024. The meeting was also joined by Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.

The parties discussed current issues of cooperation, the economy and support for Ukraine.

"We are working closely with the IMF and the EU on joint funding programmes and count on further support from the United States. This is critically important for maintaining the macro-financial stability of our country," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government stressed the high level of cooperation with the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's Economic Recovery Penny Pritzker on the implementation of steps and reforms for economic growth. Denys Shmyhal thanked for the constant coordination in this regard.

Special attention was paid to the confiscation of russian assets and the use of these funds to support Ukraine.

"We already have the first such decision from the United States. I am grateful to the United States and personally to Mrs Yellen for their leadership in promoting this initiative among the G7 countries. We are exerting joint efforts to make the aggressor pay," the Prime Minister stressed.
