Denys Shmyhal and Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia discuss European integration and confiscation of russian assets

Іn 16 January, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met in Kyiv with a delegation of Latvian parliamentarians led by Speaker of the Saeima Daiga Mieriņa.

The parties addressed Ukraine's European integration aspirations and the ways Latvia can help with its practical experience on this path.

Denys Shmyhal thanked Latvia for its participation in the restoration of our country and called on Latvian businesses to get more actively involved in this process.

The meeting participants also raised the issue of establishing justice and confiscation of seized russian assets.

"We appreciate Latvia's involvement in the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine. Latvia has also approved the nationalisation of the House of moscow to transfer the proceeds to Ukraine. This is a historic precedent, which, I am convinced, will give impetus to any further confiscation of the aggressor's assets," the Prime Minister said.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government noted that Latvia was also one of the leaders in the provision of military assistance in proportion to GDP. The parties tackled the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of joint arms production.

Denys Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine highly valued the friendly support provided by the Saeima to our country.
