Ukraine and Japan are preparing to sign a series of critical documents
On January 7, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Yōko Kamikawa in Kyiv.
The parties focused on issues of support for the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine, implementation of reforms, cooperation in infrastructure, digital and nuclear industries, and preparation for the Recovery Conference in Tokyo.
"We continue to strengthen trade relations and ties between Ukrainian and Japanese businesses. We have already held meetings with two business delegations from Japan and are interested in locating production facilities of leading Japanese companies in Ukraine. We hope that we will have practical results at the Recovery Conference in Tokyo next month," said Denys Shmyhal.
For her part, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan confirmed that her country was preparing a number of important documents for signing. The parties emphasized that the mutual objective was to engage as many private Japanese companies as possible in Ukraine's reconstruction.
Denys Shmyhal welcomed the successful completion of the Japanese presidency of the Group of Seven. He thanked for the attention paid to Ukraine on the G7 agenda.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government also expressed gratitude to Japan for its comprehensive support, as well as significant humanitarian and financial assistance. In particular, for Japan's decision to allocate USD 1 billion for humanitarian projects and reconstruction with a readiness to increase this amount to USD 4.5 billion through the mechanisms of international institutions.
