Ukraine and Moldova sign protocols to simplify joint border crossing

Ukraine and Moldova continue to implement agreements on joint control at border crossing points. During an online meeting between Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean, a number of protocols were signed aimed at simplifying and reducing the time required for citizens and cargo to cross the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.

"Today's agreements will not only intensify trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova but will also increase the efficiency and capacity of the border crossing points in line with the best European practices. The latter is especially important in the context of our joint movement towards the European Union," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stressed.

During the online meeting, the heads of government discussed the further development of logistics. Denys Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine was keen to extend the practice of joint control to all checkpoints with neighboring European countries: "This is crucial for expanding the capacity and quality of border control."

The prime ministers of Ukraine and Moldova also focused on cooperation towards European integration, including the fulfillment of the conditions for pre-accession negotiations with the EU.
