The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the delegation of the Senate of France

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a working meeting with the delegation of the Senate of the French Republic headed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces Cédric Perrin.

The parties discussed the continuation of military assistance, Ukraine's path to the European Union and NATO, and the strengthening of sanctions against russia.

First of all, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to France for the substantial defence, financial and humanitarian assistance.

"Further supplies of weapons and military equipment are extremely important for Ukraine," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine, outlining the list of priority needs, primarily air defence systems, artillery and ammunition.

The parties paid considerable attention to strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities and bilateral cooperation. "Ukrainians are fighting, defending our freedom and yours. Resistance for such a long time is possible because our partners support Ukraine and do everything possible to ensure that Ukraine not only defends itself, but also drives the enemy out of its territory," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked France for its political support of Ukraine on its path to the EU and NATO. "Full membership in the European Union and NATO are Ukraine's strategic goals," he said, adding that Ukraine is looking forward to the NATO Washington Summit to be held in May next year.

"The current restrictions should not only be maintained but also strengthened," stressed Ruslan Stefanchuk. He stressed that the issue of russia's legal liability for its crimes, in particular, the confiscation of russian property, is important: "The one who committed the aggression must be held accountable for it."

In conclusion, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that another important issue for Ukraine is to obtain reliable guarantees of security and recovery. "This is something that will allow us to demonstrate the Ukrainian success story to the whole world and show that the struggle that Ukraine is carrying out is definitely not in vain," he stressed.
