The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a working meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu

First of all, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed gratitude to Moldova for its political and diplomatic support in the war unleashed by russia against Ukraine, as well as for the humanitarian aid and shelter for Ukrainian citizens.

At the same time, he called on the Moldovan Parliament to recognise russia as a terrorist state, as a number of countries and international organisations have already done.

"We appreciate the support of the Republic of Moldova for the Peace Formula initiated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. This is a formula for a lasting and just peace," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.

He noted that Ukraine looks forward to Moldova's further active participation in the implementation of specific points of the Formula. In particular, the Republic of Moldova is already participating in the working groups on point 2 "Food security" and point 3 "Energy security".

"The sanctions pressure on russia should increase. First of all, to make it impossible for moscow to continue using its military machine," stressed Ruslan Stefanchuk, noting that the russian federation should not receive and use Western equipment, software and raw materials for weapons production.

In addition, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed gratitude for Moldova's joining to the four EU sanctions packages.

The parties also discussed European integration. Ruslan Stefanchuk assured that Ukraine is committed to further reforms and is determined to complete the implementation of the legislative steps outlined in the European Commission's report on the enlargement package.

In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that the Ukrainian side is interested in developing interparliamentary cooperation. The basis for such cooperation is the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Prague between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Parliament of Moldova.
