On the eve of the opening of the 62nd PABSEC General Assembly, the Committees of the organisation held additional meetings

At the beginning of the meetings, PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev welcomed the participants of the 62nd General Assembly and wished them fruitful cooperation.

The members of the PABSEC Committee on Culture, Education and Social Affairs approved the Report “The Role of Parliaments in Strengthening Child Protection Policies in the BSEC Member States” and recommend that the General Assembly adopt a recommendation.

The Deputy Secretary General of the PABSEC Miltiadis Makrygiannis, who chaired the meeting, invited the participants to endorse the following report of the Committee and the Rapporteur – the Member of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine Yevhen Pyvovarov.

The PABSEC Committee on Economic, Commercial and Financial Affairs at an additional meeting approved the Report and Recommendations on “Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation in the Field of Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Relief in the BSEC Region”.

The PABSEC General Assembly will hear the Committee rapporteurs at its meetings and decide on the recommendations.

For reference: The Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was established by the adoption of the Declaration of its Establishment on 25 June 1992 in Istanbul. With the signing of the Statute, the BSEC was transformed into the Organisation. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) was established on 26 February 1993. It consists of 13 countries: Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Armenia, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, North Macedonia, Romania, russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.

PABSEC aims to provide a legal framework for economic, trade, social, cultural and political cooperation between the countries; to adopt legislation necessary for the implementation of decisions taken by the Heads of State and Government or Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC member states; to assist national parliaments in strengthening parliamentary democracy; and to develop cooperation with international and regional organisations.
