The next year 2024 will be dedicated to enhancing interparliamentary cooperation with the countries of the African continent

This was announced by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during a conversation with representatives of the African media. This visit was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in the context of the implementation of the instruction of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi to intensify Ukraine’s communication with African countries.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine first of all noted that such a format of interaction with the media is an important tool for conveying information and truth.

In addition, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine noted that he communicates with his fellow speakers from the African continent almost every month.

“As the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I am determined to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations with African countries,” he stressed, adding that the Ukrainian Parliament is developing a programme of cooperation for the next year.

At the same time, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that there are a number of joint initiatives between the parliaments of the African continent and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that could be developed further.

The conversation also touched upon the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. “This is a real formula, a comprehensive plan for a just peace and the restoration of the territorial integrity of our country,” the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed.

In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that the Ukrainian Parliament is grateful for the holding of the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Angola, expressing its expectation to continue relations at the parliamentary level.
