We expect a positive conclusion to the launch of pre-accession negotiations

On 4 November Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Kyiv.

“I am glad to welcome you in Kyiv on the eve of important political decisions that are expected by the Ukrainian society. We look forward to a positive conclusion on the implementation of the 7 recommendations and to the start of pre-accession negotiations. We believe that Ukraine will become a member of the European Union in the near future,” said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Prime Minister, Ukraine, for its part, continues to implement all reforms despite russia’s full-scale aggression. He expressed his gratitude for the recognition of these steps.

Denys Shmyhal and Ursula von der Leyen also discussed financial support for Ukraine. The Head of Ukrainian Government praised the joint work on the Ukraine Facility programme: “This is an important document for the development of our country and its transformation into a successful European country.”

The Prime Minister of Ukraine thanked Ursula von der Leyen for her personal contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation as well as for the creation of solidarity lanes, which help the Ukrainian economy to function in difficult wartime conditions.
