The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the delegation of the Defence Committee of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden

The parties discussed a number of important issues, including further military support for Ukraine, Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, strengthening sanctions pressure against the russian federation, and the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

First of all, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude for the support of the 13th and 14th defence assistance packages for Ukraine by the Swedish Parliament. He also outlined the priority needs of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine, stressing that he counted on Sweden’s further support within the tank, flight and mine action coalition. “The war continues, which means that we continue to need help and look forward to the delivery of the necessary equipment and machinery to Ukraine as soon as possible,” said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Sweden for supporting Ukraine on its way to the European Union. “The Parliament of Ukraine has adopted all the legislation necessary to implement the recommendations of the European Commission and start negotiations on EU membership,” he said, expressing hope for a final positive decision by the European Commission.

On the issue of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic integration, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are already fighting with NATO weapons, according to NATO standards, and are defending NATO’s eastern flank from russian aggression.

In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed that he appreciates Sweden’s participation in the implementation of certain points of the President Zelenskyi’s Peace Formula, in particular, the first point on radiation and nuclear safety and the eighth point on environmental safety. He also welcomed Sweden’s practical efforts to implement the seventh point on restoring justice and the third point on energy security. “I would be grateful for Sweden’s widest possible participation in this process,” he stressed.
