The Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk opened photo exhibition on russian crimes against Ukrainian children in the Mexican Congress

In the framework of her working visit to Mexico, the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk opened a photo exhibition in the Mexican Congress with information and photographs about the crimes of the terrorist country russia in Ukraine.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by the leadership and members of the Mexican Parliament, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Mexico, the public and local media. The exhibition was opened at the initiative of the Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament. It is a joint project of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine.

“We came to Mexico to tell the truth. The truth is that russia violates all UN conventions, laws and customs of warfare. It is killing civilians on a massive scale, firing missiles at civilian and energy facilities, depriving Ukrainians of electricity, and stealing children. The truth is that this is genocide against Ukrainian people and ecocide,” said Olena Kondratiuk at the opening of the photo exhibition.

She emphasised that the narratives that russia is actively spreading in Latin America are not true.

It is not true that Crimea and Donbas are disputed territories. They are Ukrainian! It is not true that Ukraine as a state and Ukrainians as a nation have never existed. It is not true that this is russia’s war against NATO. This is russia’s war against the entire civilised world and against the rules of the world order, which, unfortunately, is being waged on the territory of Ukraine. It is in order to break through the wall of russian propaganda in the region that we have opened this exhibition. An exhibition of truth!” explained Olena Kondratiuk.

A separate part of the exhibition is dedicated to russia’s crimes against Ukrainian children and is part of the #BringKidsBackUa information campaign on the need to return home Ukrainian children abducted by russia.

“According to official data alone, during the full-scale war, russia killed 510 children, 1139 children were wounded, and more than 19,500 were illegally abducted or deported. They are kept in orphanages or forcibly adopted, despite the fact that their relatives are waiting for them at home,” informed the Vice Speaker Olena Kondratiuk.

Opening the exhibition in the Congress, the Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called on all those present to tell the truth to the people of Mexico and Latin America about what is happening in Ukraine.

“russia’s aggression against Ukraine is a crime against all countries that adhere to international law and for which human life is the highest value. This crime must be stopped and punished!” said Olena Kondratiuk.

The Vice Speaker expressed her gratitude to all the authors of the photos who provided their materials for the exhibition. In particular, to Yevhen Maloletka and Yan Dobronosov from Telegraf. The exhibition also includes photographs of the photographer Maks Levin, who was killed by the russian occupiers during the invasion of Kyiv region.
