“We all want peace, so that our children don’t have to be afraid or cry at the sound of bombs exploding nearby. We all want justice, because when our home is destroyed by an invader, we need to rebuild it. We all want strong institutions, because we want our rights to be protected and for the truth to prevail,” said Oleksandr Korniienko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, during a speech at the debate of the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The First Vice Speaker noted that recent armed conflicts have undermined efforts to achieve global peace. “As I speak, russians continue to launch missiles and shoot at Ukrainian soldiers and civilians,” he said.

Ukraine’s Peace Formula provides for an end to the war, in accordance with international law
“Each of us can stand up and tell the truth – aggression is a crime. Each of us can return home and lobby in our countries to join the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi,” said the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, noting that the Ukrainian Peace Formula provides for the ending of war, in accordance with international law, the establishment of a tribunal for the crime of aggression, compensation for damages, the exchange of prisoners of war, environmental protection and ensuring the safety of nuclear power plants.
In addition, Oleksandr Korniienko said that the previous meeting on the Peace Formula in Saudi Arabia was attended by representatives of more than 40 countries, including China, India, Brazil and South Africa. “We need all of your countries to join this initiative to make the peace settlement work. If we all join, the aggressor will be forced to reckon with our united position,” he stressed.
The Crimean Platform draws attention to the russian occupation of Ukrainian Crimea

In conclusion, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called on his colleagues to “not be silent, but to defend the truth”: “Let us be bold in our condemnation of crimes.
