Тhe Czech Republic assured of further support for Ukraine in its fight against the russian aggressor

“Prague has become a “magnet” that has united almost 70 parliaments from five continents, bringing together those who speak frankly about the most important issues of the present, global security and the future,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine, during a joint press conference with Milos Vystrcil, the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic.

At the same time, he noted that over the past few months it has become clear and evident who is a true friend of Ukraine, fighting for common principles and helping Ukraine to win this war. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the Czech Republic for the support and assistance that Ukraine has been receiving over the years, both at the level of political decisions and in terms of military assistance, training of Ukrainian soldiers, treatment and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk noted that the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic signed on Wednesday, 25 October, will guarantee cooperation between the institutions for many years to come.

For his part, the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Parliament, Milos Vystrcil, stressed that the Czech Republic reaffirms its continued support for Ukraine in three areas. First, it is support for Ukraine in its fight against the russian aggressor. Second, cooperation on Ukraine’s path to the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Thirdly, support in the future, after the war is over, in particular, in terms of reconstruction and cooperation in the cultural, scientific and technical spheres. “This is in the interests of both the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” he stressed.

“Ukraine is fighting not only for itself, but also for universal values and principles,” the President of the Senate of the Czech Parliament said, expressing gratitude to all Ukrainians for their heroic struggle against the aggressor.
