The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milos Vystrcil

The parties discussed a number of important topics, in particular, the current situation at the frontline and in the energy sector and military support for Ukraine.

“Artillery and ammunition, heavy military equipment, tanks and aircraft are what will allow Ukraine to move forward faster and bring our Victory closer. And military support is our priority,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed. He noted that Ukraine welcomes the Czech Republic’s assistance in training units and specialists of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Czech Republic, and highly appreciates the provision of medical assistance to wounded Ukrainian servicemen.

At the same time, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked the Czech Republic for the crucial defence, financial and humanitarian assistance provided to our country since the first days of the full-scale invasion.

“I highly appreciate the fact that the Second Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform was held in Prague on the Czech initiative,” Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed, expressing his belief that this important event will become a reliable platform that will help to increase the effectiveness of the international response to the occupation of Crimea and other temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

At the end of the meeting, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. “This is a document that will become an additional factor in strengthening bilateral relations between the legislative bodies of our countries,” said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that this is important in the context of Ukraine’s European integration and thanked the Czech Republic for supporting Ukraine’s European course.

The Memorandum signed by the parties also provides for comprehensive cooperation and mutual support, in particular, during the fight and further resistance to the russian aggressor; in the implementation of measures to ensure Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO; in the preparation and implementation of post-war cooperation, including the reconstruction of Ukraine.
