The parliamentary delegation headed by the First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Korniienko met with the Chairman of the MPLA Parliamentary Group of the National Assembly of Angola, Dr Virgilio de Fontes Pereira
“This is a historic meeting for bilateral relations and an opportunity to intensify our cooperation,” said the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Korniienko expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Angola for supporting the resolution “Territorial integrity of Ukraine: protection of the principles of the UN Charter”. He noted that Ukraine is looking forward to working with the country as a reliable partner in international organisations and deepening constructive cooperation.
In addition, the parliamentary delegates emphasised the importance of implementing the 10-point Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, that will bring comprehensive, just and lasting peace to Ukraine and security to the whole world.
The parties also discussed food security. The First Vice Speaker informed about the current situation and actions of the russian federation, in particular, its withdrawal from the agreement, attacks on ports and obstruction of exports. “Ukrainian grain is important to the world. We are aware of this and treat its exports with responsibility,” he said.
“We are firmly convinced that we can defeat the aggressor who came to our land with war. russia has already lost strategically, but we still need the firm support of our partners to force russia to withdraw its troops from the whole territory of Ukraine,” the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine concluded.
For reference. On 23-27 October, the Ukrainian delegation headed by First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Korniienko is on a working visit to the Republic of Angola.
The programme of the visit includes participation of the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in the Angolan capital Luanda.
The parliamentary delegation also includes: the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Oleksandr Merezhko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports Zhan Beleniuk, the Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management Lesia Vasylenko, the Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Olha Rudenko, the Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy Oleksii Zhmerenetskyi, the Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy Oleksandr Sanchenko, and Dmytro Shpenov, the Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy.
