The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova signed a Memorandum of Understanding

During his official visit to the Czech Republic, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Igor Grosu signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The parties agreed to develop, consolidate, and intensify cooperation in order to regulate support for parliamentary processes and procedures, including strengthening the institutional capacity of both parliaments.

At the same time, the parties agreed to work together to improve the standards of parliamentary processes and procedures, which will allow for the effective implementation of the European Union integration agenda, as well as to intensify security cooperation, in particular with transatlantic partners. This also applies to ensuring bilateral consultations and coordination of positions, if necessary, through the representatives of the Parties, within the framework of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, and other international and regional parliamentary organisations.

At the same time, the parties agreed on the importance of cooperation in the context of the russian federation’s war against Ukraine and a set of measures for mutual support. In particular, they agreed to support the Peace Formula proposed by Ukraine, which will ensure a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine and security for the whole world, and to recognise the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Finally, the parties agreed to hold mutual visits at the level of parliamentary leadership, joint meetings of parliamentary committees, as well as trainings and exchange of experience aimed at strengthening the professional capacity of the secretariat staff of both parliaments.
