Ukraine and Moldova will organize joint control at another railway checkpoint

Ukraine and Moldova have signed a protocol on the organization of joint control at the Novosavytska-Kuchurhan railway crossing point in Ukraine.

The signing ceremony took place following an online conversation between Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean.

The protocol was signed by the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhiy Deineko and Acting Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine Serhiy Zvyagintsev. On the Moldovan side, the Deputy Head of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Diana Salkucan, and Director of the Customs Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Talmazan, signed the protocol.

"In the spring, we first introduced joint control at the Serpneve 1-Basarabeasca railroad checkpoint. This practice has proven to be excellent. It significantly facilitates Ukrainian exports, cuts the duration of all procedures in half, minimizes queues, and saves public funds. In the future, we will apply the experience of joint control at all checkpoints with Moldova and, I am convinced, at the borders with all our EU neighbors," said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government emphasized that joint control at the border crossing points would provide benefits to both countries in the logistics, trade and economic spheres.

Denys Shmyhal noted that Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania had all the opportunities to activate logistics corridors in trilateral cooperation to diversify Ukrainian export routes.

During the online meeting, the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Moldova discussed further steps to develop logistics corridors, economic and energy cooperation.
