The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Martin Jaeger

The parties discussed the continuation of defence support for Ukraine, Ukraine’s path to the European Union and NATO, as well as the implementation of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Ukraine’s energy security.

First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine noted that relations with Germany have always been and remain a priority for Ukraine.

“In the context of military support, it is extremely important for us to strengthen air defence systems and provide long-range weapons,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, emphasising the importance of continuing defence, financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. “All German weapons are important for Ukraine and show their best on the battlefield,” he said.

“Both the President, the Government and the Ukrainian Parliament have done a lot in the context of European integration,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expressing hope that by the end of the year Ukraine will receive a new status – the status of a country with which negotiations on accession to the EU have begun.

“Ukraine has clearly defined its priorities, the Ukrainian army is de facto a NATO army,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, adding that it would be very valuable for Ukraine if the Washington Summit accepted Ukraine’s application and invited Ukraine to join the Alliance.

In conclusion, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked Germany for agreeing to take over the patronage of one of the points of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi: “It is very valuable for us to share the implementation of the entire Formula with you.”
