The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the President of PACE Tiny Kox

The parties discussed the establishment of an international special tribunal to punish the crime of aggression against Ukraine and support for the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

First of all, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine thanked Tiny Kox for the invitation to participate in the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament. He also expressed gratitude to PACE for supporting Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and the relevant decisions taken within the Assembly.

"On the almost 600th day of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, the largest war in Europe in 80 years, it is very important for us not to lose contact between parliaments and their leaders," said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

"It is important that last year the PACE called on the member states of the Council of Europe to recognize the current russian regime as a terrorist one and supported the establishment of a special international criminal tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine earlier this year," emphasized Ruslan Stefanchuk.

At the same time, he noted that further support of the Assembly's initiatives to establish an international special tribunal to punish the crime of aggression against Ukraine is necessary. "This war must not just end, but end with a fair legal verdict for the aggressor," emphasized Ruslan Stefanchuk, adding that russia, which publicly disregards the principles of international law, must be punished under the laws of international law.

"It is important for Ukraine that the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is supported by representatives of the PACE member parliaments," Ruslan Stefanchuk noted.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine said that, for example, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has taken patronage of the fifth point of the Formula — "Implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine".

In conclusion, he emphasized that this could become a unifying idea for all parliaments, because "territorial integrity is an axiom for every state."
