President of Ukraine received letters of credence from the newly appointed ambassadors of France, Great Britain and Canada
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received letters of credence from the newly appointed Ambassador of the French Republic to Ukraine Gaël Veyssière, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ukraine Martin Harris, and Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Natalka Cmoc.
The ceremony traditionally took place on the territory of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv”.
During the conversation with French Ambassador Gaël Veyssière, the Head of State thanked France and President Emmanuel Macron for the defense and humanitarian support of our country in the times of the full-scale war unleashed by Russia.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined key priorities for further defense support from France, taking into account the needs of Ukrainian defenders on the battlefield. The parties emphasized the fruitful cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries, as well as the support from the French side in the preparation of the Defense Industries Forum.
Particular attention was paid to the current issues of Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO, as well as the preparation of bilateral events for the near future.
The parties also discussed the launch of negotiations on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on security guarantees between Ukraine and France on the basis of the Joint Declaration of the Group of Seven on support for our country, adopted at the NATO Summit in Vilnius.
During the meeting with British Ambassador Martin Harris, the unprecedentedly strong partnership between the two countries was emphasized.
The President of Ukraine focused on the key priorities of further defense cooperation, emphasizing the need to bolster the Ukrainian air defense system.
The Head of State emphasized the role of the British government in the organization of training of the Ukrainian military in the United Kingdom.
The parties also discussed the challenges our country is facing, particularly in the autumn-winter period.
Particular attention was paid to pooling international efforts around the implementation of the Peace Formula proposed by Ukraine, our country's integration into NATO and its contribution to global food security.
For his part, Ambassador Martin Harris emphasized that he was glad to return to Kyiv, where he served as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in 2003-2008.
The diplomat also noted that the presentation of letters of credence takes place on the territory of St. Sophia of Kyiv.
"This is a holy place. It testifies to the ancient history of Kyivan Rus," he said.
With Ambassador of Canada Natalka Cmoc, the President discussed the agreements reached during his recent visit to Canada, which once again confirmed the special partnership between the two countries.
"We are extremely grateful to Canada and your people for the great support of all Ukrainians since the first days of the full-scale war. We will continue our fruitful dialog. We know that you are our true friends," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
