Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis received copies of credentials of newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova.

Yevhen Perebyinis congratulated Katarina Mathernova on the beginning of her diplomatic mission, expressing hope for close cooperation with the newly appointed Ambassador for the victory over the Russian aggressor and Ukraine's further integration into the European Union.

In this context, the Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to the EU for its economic and military assistance, as well as for the political support and sanctions pressure on the aggressor state. He also stressed the importance of the EU's active participation in the implementation of a number of Ukrainian initiatives, including the Peace Formula.

Yevhen Perebyinis and Katarina Mathernova exchanged their views on Ukraine's progress in implementing the seven recommendations of the European Commission. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine expressed hope that a decision to start pre-accession negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU will be made by the end of 2023.
