Denys Shmyhal met with German Foreign Minister

On 11 September, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met in Kyiv with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Annalena Baerbock.

“Germany is one of the leading providers of military assistance to our country. Ukraine hopes to receive Taurus missiles in the shortest possible time. It is also important to protect Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure as much as possible. We are counting on Germany’s help in strengthening our air defence system,” said Denys Shmyhal.

During the meeting the parties also discussed cooperation in the energy sector. The Prime Minister stressed that the restoration of Ukraine’s energy system was one of the key tasks. He thanked Germany for its assistance and the launch of a wind farm project in the Chornobyl exclusion zone.

Denys Shmyhal and Annalena Baerbock discussed Ukraine’s integration into the EU and NATO. The Head of Ukrainian Government thanked the German side for the financial support, in particular the Ukraine Facility initiative.

The parties also discussed preparations for the next major recovery conference. The Prime Minister of Ukraine praised the direct regional support provided by German cities.

Denys Shmyhal thanked the German government for supporting the President of Ukraine’s peace formula and for the continued solidarity with Ukraine.
