The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the delegation of United for Ukraine European MPs

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with a delegation of the United for Ukraine, an association of parliamentarians from the European Union member states.

The parties discussed, in particular, further support for Ukraine’s defence capabilities, the extension of sanctions against the aggressor state, the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, as well as Ukraine’s path to the European Union and NATO.

“A powerful delegation of the United for Ukraine parliamentary association is in Kyiv on such important days for our country – the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine and the Independence Day of Ukraine. We are sincerely grateful for this visit of support and solidarity,” said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine, thanking the representatives of each country for their comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in the most difficult times of the struggle for freedom and independence.

“Several countries have joined the aircraft coalition. Ukraine will receive F-16 fighter jets, which will significantly change our position on the battlefield,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, adding that both the quantity and speed of supply of weapons are important in terms of Ukraine’s needs and support for our defence capability.

In addition, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed the importance of continuing to impose sanctions against the russian federation. “This is an effective mechanism if the sanctions do not really provide for circumvention, the possibility of abuse, if they really put economic pressure on the aggressor,” he said, thanking for the introduction of 11 packages of restrictions.

“The Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi is no longer a theorem, but an axiom for Ukraine. This is how we see the restoration of a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, adding that the Formula includes ten clear points based on international law. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also said that in implementing the Peace Formula, the Parliament of Ukraine has taken over the patronage of the fifth point, which is related to the restoration of the requirements of the UN Charter and the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

At the same time, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine thanked his European colleagues for supporting Ukraine on its way to the European Union. “The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is doing everything necessary to ensure that by the end of this year Ukraine will be able to open negotiations on full membership in the EU,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

“We hope that in Washington we will be able to put together all the efforts to ensure that Ukraine goes through this thorny path and receives a final answer on our aspirations to be a part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation,” the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed.

“We have to realise that this struggle has already turned into a struggle not only for values and principles, but also for the model the world will follow in the next 100 years. It is clear that this will be the model of the country that will win this war,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
