Prime Minister took part in the ceremony of hoisting the country’s largest national flag

Оn the occasion of the National Flag Day, a ceremony of hoisting the blue and yellow flag was held in Kyiv with the participation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The event was also attended by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Oleksiy Danilov, and government officials.

The largest national flag of Ukraine was raised on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War.

The President emphasised that the National Flag was not only an amulet, but also the pride of our country.

“The pride we feel when our flag is raised, when we celebrate our holidays, when we gain our victories, when we return our lands,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

In his greetings, the Prime Minister stressed that the Ukrainian flag was now more meaningful than ever.

“Blue is a peaceful sky over the whole country. This is the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, which are safe for swimming and navigation. This is the mighty Dnipro River and the restored Kakhovka reservoir. Yellow is the colour of Ukraine’s fertile land. The sands of our Crimean and Kherson coasts. It is the warm sun of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Together, the blue and yellow colours are a symbol of courage and steadfastness. A symbol of the people fighting for their freedom and independence,” said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Head of Government, wherever in the world we see the Ukrainian flag, it reminds us of the courage and feat of Ukrainians: “And it will certainly return to every corner of Ukrainian land. And it will fly over all our Ukraine. We are grateful to everyone who has made us proud to see the blue and yellow flag flying over our cities today.”
