Ruslan Stefanchuk met with representatives of the diplomatic corps

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak held a regular round of talks with representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Ukraine.

The meeting was attended by ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions from the Group of Seven countries, the European Union, South Africa, Turkey, Egypt, Brazil, the Republic of Korea, India, Romania, Finland, Norway, and Denmark, Spain, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Slovakia, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the Apostolic Nunciature, as well as the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine. Representatives of the diplomatic missions of Germany, Chile, Australia, Kuwait, Argentina, the Cook Islands, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia also joined the meeting via video.

The main issue of the meeting was the implementation of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi in terms of the implementation of the UN Charter and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

“It is very significant that on the Day of Ukrainian Statehood the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine became a platform for holding the next economic round of discussion of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.

In his address to the diplomats present, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament recalled the main components of the named part of the Peace Formula, which are in line with the generally recognised norms of international law.

In particular, he stressed that the restoration of world order and universal respect for the UN Charter is possible only through the restoration of the territorial integrity of the Ukrainian state within its internationally recognised borders.

In addition, the international community must ensure that russia complies with the UN Charter, in particular Article 2, and that russia withdraws its troops from the territory of Ukraine.

“For Ukraine, the principle of territorial integrity is integral and indivisible – it implies the struggle for all occupied territories,” stressed Ruslan Stefanchuk.

According to him, it is the President Zelenskyi’s Peace Formula that opens a universal and, importantly, natural path to peace through the restoration and further strict adherence to the fundamental principles of international peaceful coexistence.

“This is not a formula for compromises, losses or temporary agreements, which require unlimited time and financial resources to implement. This is a formula of justice,” the Speaker stressed.

“I am grateful to you and the countries you represent for supporting Ukraine and maintaining the territorial integrity of our country,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament thanked the representatives of the diplomatic corps.

For his part, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak, noted that today’s meeting is evidence that the countries represented by the diplomats also share the principles of law that Ukraine adheres to.

“We are all free to speak and hear each other. Today we really unite the whole world with you. I think that like-minded people have gathered here. In particular, in terms of respect for international law and the UN Charter. So, thank you very much for meeting for the fourth time and for continuing this format. Obviously, your proposals and our philosophy of the Peace Formula will help us move forward,” said Andrii Yermak.

He also stressed that for us, for Ukrainians, as well as for all our colleagues, partners and friends, the most important thing today is to end this war.

“To end it so that Ukraine can really return all its territories, restore its territorial integrity and sovereignty. And in the future, it will be absolutely independent, free and friendly to the whole world. After all, the President Zelenskyi’s peace plan is based solely on international law and the principles of the UN Charter and justice. And this is important to us,” the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine emphasised.
