Denys Shmyhal and JICA President discuss Ukraine’s recovery and launch of public-private partnership projects
Рrime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka met in Kyiv to discuss Ukraine’s recovery and the launch of public-private partnership projects.
Denys Shmyhal thanked the Government of Japan for its consistent support, in particular through JICA mechanisms. He also expressed appreciation for the implementation of a joint humanitarian demining project with Cambodia.
“We look forward to expanding cooperation in this area, as well as in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed.
The Head of Ukrainian Government emphasised that Ukraine appreciated JICA’s intention to open an office in Kyiv.
“Our Government, for its part, will do everything possible to facilitate its early opening. This will make our coordination closer and faster for the better implementation of joint projects,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is implementing an emergency recovery programme in Ukraine worth more than USD 500 million. This includes projects in the areas of transport, humanitarian demining, strengthening the energy system, restoring the agricultural sector, healthcare and education.
