The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine held a videoconference with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk held a videoconference with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Republic Lorenzo Fontana.

First of all, the parties discussed Ukraine’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

“Ukraine is fighting according to NATO standards. It is fighting with NATO weapons. It is fighting for Euro-Atlantic values,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

In particular, he noted that Ukraine expects the Summit to invite Ukraine to join the Alliance, namely, to fix clear modalities and time frames, as well as to provide Ukraine with appropriate security guarantees before it becomes a member of NATO.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that the position of the Italian Parliament is extremely important for Ukraine.

“I called on the Italian Chamber of Deputies to give a political signal in favour of adopting a decision on Ukraine’s membership in NATO at the Vilnius NATO Summit by adopting a resolution or statement,” Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

In conclusion, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine noted that Ukraine counts on Italy’s support and is grateful for all the military, technical, financial and humanitarian assistance and solidarity with Ukraine.
