Sanctions against russia’s nuclear industry should be tightened, we count on Japan’s help in this matter
Іn the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.
The parties discussed Ukraine’s rapid recovery and, in particular, the priority of humanitarian demining.
The meeting also touched upon nuclear safety and the need to tighten sanctions against russia’s nuclear industry.
“The horrific terrorist attack by russian troops at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is one of the biggest environmental disasters in Europe. In this context, the issue of nuclear safety and the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP is also of particular importance. russia has turned the plant into a military facility, which threatens not only Ukraine but the whole world. In response, we must tighten sanctions against russia’s nuclear industry, and we count on Japan’s help in this matter,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.
The Prime Minister thanked his Japanese counterpart for financial support to Ukraine and active participation in the meetings of the Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform.
