The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with the President of the Republic of Lithuania

During his working visit to the Republic of Lithuania, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the President Gitanas Nauseda.

First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Lithuania and the Lithuanian people for the invaluable and comprehensive support that Ukraine receives.

“Thank you for a clear and understandable position on supporting Ukraine on all fronts – on the path to the European Union and NATO, in political decisions and real and practical support,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.

In addition, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked Gitanas Nauseda for his support for the speedy establishment of a special tribunal for the crime of russian aggression against Ukraine. He said that for Ukraine, the integral components of a just peace are bringing the russian federation to justice, returning all Ukrainian children illegally taken by russia to Ukraine, returning all prisoners of war to Ukraine and compensation by russia for all the damage caused to Ukraine.

The parties also discussed the implementation of the peace formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. In particular, Lithuania supports Ukraine’s plan to restore justice:

“Your patronage and your involvement in the development of some chapters really give us optimism that this formula will be implemented.”

“For Ukraine, human life is the highest value,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk, thanking Lithuania for providing shelter to more than 70,000 Ukrainians: “Such warm relations between our nations are a sign of great solidarity and support for the Ukrainian people.”

For his part, the President of the Republic of Lithuania noted the need to move forward with the establishment of a special tribunal and the restoration of Ukraine. He also stressed that “Ukraine must decide on the conditions which the peace plan will be implemented under”.
