The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with President of the NATO PA

In the framework of the Summit of NATO Parliament Speakers, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Joelle Garriaud-Maylam.

The parties discussed Ukraine’s future membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed that he was looking forward to the support of Ukraine by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly at the Vilnius Summit in July. At the same time, he expressed gratitude for the decisions already taken in support of Ukraine, in particular, the recognition of the russian regime as a terrorist, support for the decision of the International Criminal Court on the arrest warrant for putin and lvova-belova, condemnation of the ideology of ruscism, recognition of the act of genocide, and the decision of the NATO PA on the prospects for Ukraine’s future in the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

“The Ukrainian army is de facto a NATO army. We are fighting with NATO weapons and NATO standards. The Ukrainian army performs NATO functions,” the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed.

He also stressed that Ukraine understands that a positive decision by the Alliance will be possible only if Ukraine wins this war. “It is important for Ukraine to hear the prospects, clear signals on how Ukraine’s path to the Alliance will be and how long it will take, to define a clear algorithm of Ukraine’s movement towards NATO,” said the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine.

“We have to drive out this russian autocratic regime – there is no other choice. It is simply our duty,” said Joelle Garriaud-Maylam, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
