The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine got acquainted with the work of the Norwegian air defence system NASAMS

In the framework of his official visit, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, together with the President of Storting Masud Gharahkhani and the President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Eirik Lie, visited Kongsberg, where he got acquainted with the work of NASAMS air defence systems.

First of all, the Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine stressed that Ukraine needs even more of these air defence systems “to shoot down everything that russia is firing at peaceful Ukrainian cities in agony and to defend itself against the brutal attacks that russia continues to carry out against Ukraine”.

In particular, the participants discussed increasing the supply of air defence systems to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Your knowledge and technologies are now working in a very practical way on the front line of this war and helping Ukrainians save the greatest value – lives,” Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.

“NASAMS saves lives of Ukrainians every day. Therefore, it is a great honour for us to make our contribution and change the situation in Ukraine,” said Masud Gharahkhani, the President of the Norwegian Storting. He added that the aforementioned air defence systems have been continuously improved since their inception: “Today they are one of the best systems for protecting critical and civilian infrastructure.”

“Ukraine must win the war unleashed by russia. And Ukraine will win.

Norway is standing side by side with us,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine concluded.

For reference. NASAMS (Norwegian/National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System) is a mobile air defence missile system (ADMS) designed to shoot down missiles, aircraft and other air targets at low and medium altitudes.
