The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Storting of the Kingdom of Norway signed a Memorandum of Understanding

During his official visit to the Kingdom of Norway, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the President of the Storting of Norway Masud Gharahkhani signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a joint framework for supporting parliamentary democracy.

The parties confirm the deepening of their partnership and agree to work on a number of issues.

In particular, to ensure the effective implementation of the constitutional functions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – lawmaking, controlling and representative; improving the quality of Ukrainian parliamentarism and transparency, predictability, efficiency and openness of work; exchange of experience and best practices.

The signatories agreed to provide opportunities for training, exchange of experience and best practices between members of Parliament and secretariat staff.

As stated in the document, parliamentary democracy support activities should be a manifestation of solidarity with the Verkhovna Rada and contribute to the protection and strengthening of its crucial role in defending and preserving Ukraine’s freedom, independence and democracy.
