President of Ukraine and Federal President of Germany had a meeting in Berlin
In the framework of his visit to Germany, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. The meeting was held in a tête-à-tête format and in the format of delegations.
The Head of State thanked Germany for its comprehensive political, financial, humanitarian and military support of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian aggression, as well as for the significant contribution of Germany to the strengthening of the international coalition in defense of our country.
The President of Ukraine highly appreciated the new defense aid package announced by the German government, the largest since the beginning of the full-scale aggression.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to Germany for sheltering Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave their homes due to the full-scale Russian invasion.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of bringing to justice those responsible for war crimes and other atrocities committed by the Russian aggressor.
The parties specifically focused on joint work to promote the Ukrainian Peace Formula and organize a Global Peace Summit with the participation of the maximum number of states, including those from the Global South.
Special attention was paid to the issues of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The Head of State noted that our country counts on Germany's effective assistance in supporting Ukraine's application to join NATO.
Emphasizing the importance of continuing comprehensive pressure on the aggressor, the President of Ukraine expressed hope for Germany's leading role in the adoption of the next sanctions package by the EU.
The talks also focused on Germany's participation in Ukraine's recovery. This is facilitated, in particular, by the joint patronage over municipal and regional partnerships between Ukraine and Germany established last year by the two presidents.
