Ukraine obtains another EUR 1.5 billion of macro-financial assistance from the EU

Тogether with its European partners, Ukraine is preparing a large-scale recovery programme for 2023. For this purpose, an effective reconstruction infrastructure, high-quality projects and procedures based on European rules are being formed. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

At a session on March 21, the Government approved the draft law "On Projects of National Interest in the Energy Sector". According to the Prime Minister, the adoption of this document will allow for reduction of bureaucratic procedures and stimulation of investments in the energy sector.

"This will make it possible to distribute investments in joint energy projects with our European partners, thus contributing to the rapid recovery and strengthening of the resilience of our energy system," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government also informed that on March 21 the EU had transferred another tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of EUR 1.5 billion. The funds are already in the NBU's accounts.

Since the beginning of the year, financial assistance from the European Union has totaled EUR 4.7 billion. These resources will allow the state to maintain macro-financial stability, pay social benefits and pensions, and fund salaries for teachers and doctors in full.
