President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin, who is on a visit to Ukraine, took part in the final farewell ceremony for the Hero of Ukraine, commander of the 1st mechanized battalion of the 67th separate mechanized brigade, Junior Lieutenant Dmytro Kotsiubailo, who was killed in action near Bakhmut on March 7.
The final farewell ceremony took place in St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Sanna Marin laid flowers at the coffin of Dmytro Kotsiubailo and expressed condolences to his family.
The Head of State handed over to Oksana Kotsiubailo, mother of the fallen warrior, the Cross of Military Merit, which was posthumously awarded to her son for outstanding personal merits in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people and loyalty to the military oath.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Finland also laid flowers at the Wall of Remembrance of the Fallen for Ukraine near St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Sanna Marin honored the memory of the defenders with a moment of silence.
