Denys Shmyhal discussed with MEPs steps on Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration

Тhe Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with representatives of the European People's Party Group in the European Parliament led by Manfred Weber.

The parties discussed concrete steps for Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the continuation of the decentralization reform, and the restoration of our country.

"The European Parliament was the first among the EU institutions to facilitate Ukraine's EU candidate status, and from the first days of russia's full-scale war against Ukraine it provided strong support when it came to creating an international coalition to support our struggle for freedom and European values, when it came to supplying weapons to Ukraine and strengthening sanctions pressure against russia," Denys Shmyhal emphasized.

The Prime Minister thanked the MEPs for adopting the resolution of February 16 this year One Year of Russia's Invasion and War of Aggression Against Ukraine. According to him, the resolution has once again demonstrated the readiness of the parliamentary segment to proceed further in supporting our country in such issues as the rapid delivery of necessary weapons and the international isolation of russia.

The parties discussed the challenges faced by Ukraine and Europe due to the russian aggression, in particular the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP and Kakhovka HPP. Denys Shmyhal called on MEPs to use all possible tools, including sanctions, to ensure the safety of these facilities and prevent a possible humanitarian catastrophe.

Representatives of the European Parliament commended Ukrainian communities for their activity and involvement in the restoration of the destroyed infrastructure. The Prime Minister, for his part, told the MEPs about Ukraine's priorities and needs for reconstruction.
