Ukraine and Spain are united by the spirit of victory

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with a delegation of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain headed by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez Perez-Castejon.

Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the Prime Minister of Spain for his courage to visit Ukraine on the anniversary of the full-scale war of russia against Ukraine.

He also conveyed sincere words of gratitude to the Government, the Parliament of Spain and the entire Spanish people for their unwavering support of the Ukrainian people, in particular in terms of financial, humanitarian and military assistance.

“We will be grateful if such support continues, because we need to supply new technological weapons, ammunition, tanks, aircraft, long-range missiles and other weapons that will speed up our victory,” the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament said.

In addition, the parties discussed the issue of sanctions pressure on the aggressor country and strengthening this sanctions policy, in particular in terms of missile and space programs, issues related to rosatom and the russian propaganda machine.

During the meeting, the participants also emphasized the issue of justice and legal victory over russia, which must bear full responsibility and receive fair sentences in international institutions for its crimes in Ukraine.

According to Ruslan Stefanchuk, an important stage in ending the war is also the peace formula initiated by the President of Ukraine, which Ukraine proposes to support and patronize one of its points.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine called on his Spanish colleagues at the level of the Government and the Parliament to support important decisions for Ukraine: to recognize russia as a terrorist state, to recognize the Holodomor of 1932-33 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, to support the process of isolation of russia at all international platforms and in all world institutions, including the G20, the UN Security Council or the 2024 Olympic Games; to support Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic and European integration aspirations.

“I know that Ukraine and Spain are united by the spirit of the winner. And Ukraine will continue this resistance until we win. And Spain also always goes to victory. Thank you. Glory to Ukraine, glory to Spain!” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized.

The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain, Pedro Sanchez Perez-Castejon, in turn, noted that Spain will always be with Ukraine. He reminded that the UN General Assembly is expected to vote on the issue concerning Ukraine, recognizing Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemning russian aggression.

“A number of countries support this resolution, but all of us together have to do even more to show the countries suffering from the consequences of this aggression who the real aggressor is,” Pedro Sanchez said.

He also assured his Ukrainian counterpart that both the Government and the Parliament of Spain are in line with Ukraine and are doing everything in their power to make the world an ally of Ukraine.
