Denys Shmyhal took part in a commemoration of the anniversary of Ukraine’s invincibility
A commemorative event dedicated to the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the russian federation took place on St. Sophia Square in Kyiv. Together with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov, Government officials, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
The Head of State presented state awards and conferred honorary titles upon military personnel and civilians, as well as handed over battle flags to military units of the Armed Forces and assault brigades of the Offensive Guard.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked all the soldiers who were defending and protecting our homeland and paid tribute to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the intelligence, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the border guards, and all the defense and security forces.
“It depends on you whether we will all survive or whether Ukraine will survive. It depends on you every day! Every hour! It depends on you, Ukrainian warrior! You are our most important person who stands and thanks to whom millions of Ukrainians stand. Who will endure and thanks to whom Ukraine will endure! Thanks to you, ‘Glory to Ukraine!’ will be heard forever. I am grateful to all those who endured that February, this year, and who give Ukraine invincibility,” the President of Ukraine addressed Ukrainian soldiers, rescuers, volunteers, and all defenders.
The gathering on St. Sophia Square also observed a minute of silence in memory of each and every person who died for the Ukrainian state.
On the anniversary of invincibility, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Defense Forces and all Ukrainians fighting daily for the right to live in their homeland.
“A fierce Year of Invincibility. Twelve months of hardships and tireless struggle. Twelve months of resistance to the russian invasion. Ukraine has survived – thanks to everyone who fought. Ukraine is winning – thanks to everyone who continues to fight. Ukraine will recover – for the sake of everyone who gave their lives for a free future for the next generations. I am grateful to the Defense Forces who defend Ukraine’s freedom and independence. I am grateful to all Ukrainians who fight for the right to live in their native land every day. The year of victory is ahead,” said Denys Shmyhal.
